02/04 Selections

It’s all weather champs day and I’ve picked out a few today with good value a couple are in the same race so may be worth splitting stakes too, or even a cheeky reverse forecast. Looking forward to the good quality action.

The first few races look a bit too trappy for me to get involved in and so I’ve missed those out with the first selections being in the 3:10. Sky go 5 places with many others paying each way for the first 4. I’ve got two in this that I like the look of, firstly is one we backed recently Gulliver, available at 20/1. I think he ran well enough last time out returned to form for the drop back to 6 furlongs. I think this will be a fast run race and think Gulliver could well be running on into the places. I also will have a smaller stake each way plau on Brian The Snail, who is an enigma but has bundles of ability and if Brian turns up and wants to win, on best form he’ll go very close at 28/1. I don’t mind playing a couple with the additional places here.

Next up I have one in the 3:45, being Yazaman for William Haggas. Since winning on debut he has contested some excellent races, with seconds in a listed and then two group two races. Another few placed efforts since where he maybe disappointed. But after a hot 2 year old year if he comes on for his first run from a break last time out he should be bang there. He missed the start slightly there as well and he is well overpriced at 12/1. He has the best form in the race and I expect he will be going close here back down to 6 furlongs.

This time a few months ago I’d never have suspected to be putting Mums Tipple up for a race, however I think the last two runs have been excellent this year. His 6th in the 6 furlong race was better than it looked staying on really well and being eased after getting no luck in running. He was crying out for a step up in trip that day and next time at 7 furlongs he easily won the Lady Wulfrina listed stakes, I can see the extra furlong bringing out even more from him and this one time Guineas hope could have a great chance of winning for us.

In the lucky last I’ve sided with Gabrial The Devil who is consistent at both 6 and seven furlongs. He doesn’t always win but is always there abouts and more often than not finishes in the places. At 14/1 he is one of the outsiders here but he’s been running well and think with the extra place available we can be hopefully of at least a place! I also like the chances of Amber Island for David Loughnane who loves the AW and runs off a low weight here. She’s been in good form with a close second to Shimmering Dawn who runs earlier on the card, before winning a handicap over 7 furlongs last time out in a good style hinting at having a bit in hand.
