Glorious Goodwood Day Two
Perhaps missing a trick with an each way play with the 5 places on offer, I’ll be going for a win bet here on Siskany at 4/1. Admittedly he did hamper some in behind him at Ascot including Nagano, but I think he deserves to be favourite over him today. He was previously progressive and raced wide throughout at Ascot so I can forgive him that run slightly. With Buick on board again, I wouldn’t be surprised by a much better run.
Siskany 4/1 1pt win
Annoyingly I’ve missed the 10/1 on offer earlier today, but at 6/1 with 6 places it makes a muggy each way play here. The horse I’m talking about is Onassis. On my HTF for the season, she showed much improved form on her reappearance 10th at Ascot, to finish a staying on fourth in the group three summer stakes. That was over 6 furlongs and she does need further in my opinion, the 7 furlongs tomorrow should suit her.
Onassis 6/1 1pt each way
Straying away from the shorter prices and abandoning a personal favourite in Chipotle, who I think will do much better than her luckless super sprint appearance. I’m going for Arboy Will at 25/1. A shock 150/1 winner on debut, he then finished 3rd of 4 in a novice race under a penalty, finishing 3 lengths back. The winner that day was Canonized who is listed placed and has won a conditions race since. From his debut win, Dig Two then won twice and followed home Chipotle at Ascot in second. Koda Legend and Hotline Bling have both won since too, showing his debut form is actually pretty strong. After that 3rd to Canonized he won a nursery handicap in an easy manner. With 4 places on offer I think the 25/1 could be a little big.
Arboy Will 25/1 0.5pts each way
Poetic Flare is an un-backable price for me personally, but I’m looking to take him on anyway with a previous group one winner on heavy ground, Alcohol Free under Oisin Murphy. Closely matched with Snow Lantern, I think the heavy ground will suit her slightly more and could be enough to reverse the form again. At 5/1 not an each way play but I think we should at least get a run for our money.
Alcohol Free 5/1 1pt win.
I think this is actually quite a strong race, but I’m going with Canonized at 4/1, a good second in a York listed race having won on second start. She has since come out and won including a good conditions race last time out. The ground is a slight question mark, but I think 4/1 is good value.
Canonized 4/1 1pt win
This is a more speculative one, I like Seperate here ridden by Jason Hart. Back as a two year old Seperate was actually group three placed. I think now down to a mark of 83, the lowest since being a two year old. We can expect more at some point. The 7furlongs I think suits a little more than the mile last time. At 33/1 with 5 places on offer hopefully we can squeak into one of the places at least.
Seperate 33/1 0.5pts each way
4:35 - Schone Aussicht 14/1 0.5pts each way 6 places.
6:15 - Darasso 20/1 0.5pts each way 7 places
7:15 - Bridge Native 28/1 0.5pts each way 6 places
