Goodwood Day Four Selections

An unlucky third day at Goodwood but still profit; Gubbass close; Yibir blowing his chances and a very close 50/1 place, that was almost very good!

Thought we were in for the same fate at Galway, Gin on Lime so close to winning, Zoffanien ran well bar some poor jumps, but we finally got the winner at 16/1 in the way of Macgiloney in a cracking finish.

One who’s been so consistent this year and desperately unlucky, Rajinsky. Since winning a class two on his second start he has ran three huge races, close second in a big field handicap won by Frankenstella over two miles. He finished fourth in the Northumberland Plate when badly hampered making his run, with the third that day demoted behind him due to that incident. He still finished just over a length away from Nicholas T who got up very late on. He then dropped in trip to the one mile six handicap at Newmarket. Where he stayed on late into sixth, he’s been dropped slightly in the weights and the extra trip will suit him more the way he finishes his races. With seven places at 16/1 I think we’ve got a great chance here.

Rajinsky 16/1 0.5pts each way 7 places

I think Baaeed most likely wins, but at 4/6 I won’t be backing today. Instead I’ll offer an each way selection in Rhythm Master. Very highly thought of as a two year old, after his winning debut he stepped straight into group one company, finishing an excellent third in the Prix Morny. He again placed third in the Mill Reef next time out. On seasonal reappearance he was midfield in the Greenham, but he put that firmly behind him in the Jersey at Ascot finishing a close fourth at 40/1. Just 2 lengths back from Creative Force who was 2nd in the group two here earlier this week, and under a length behind Guineas fourth Naval Crown. At 12/1 he is a good price considering he finished miles clear of Khartoum who is the same price.

Rhythm Master 12/1 0.5pts each way

0.5pts Reverse Forecast with Baaeed (1pt total)

One I can never seem to get right here, Maydanny a non runner in the first race on Monday, I think the ground will suit him better today having dried out a lot. His seasonal reappearance was on okay second, before a disappointing run at Ascot. His best run of the year was a half length second to Magical Morning in the Coral Challenge. He’s actually been dropped slightly in the weights for that and is 6 pounds better off. At 10/1 with 7 places we should be hoping for at least a place, but this horse has the ability to win races like this.

Maydanny 10/1 1pt each way 7 places.

This would typically be a no bet race for me, I don’t want to take on Battaash and I’m not going to back such a short price. However, as he is on my HTF list and 150/1 despite finishing third in the past two renewals I will be having a tiny bet on Ornate, despite him showing nothing like that form this year, the ground will suit much better than his midfield run earlier in the week.

Ornate 0.25pts each way 150/1 4 places.

Just a small win bet here on the consistent Old Boy Euchen Glen who is in superb form this year. Mogul is the obvious name on paper and he won at the meeting last year, but would need an upturn on what he’s shown this year.

Euchen Glen 9/2 0.5pts win

No bet.

Buick is one of my favourite jockeys and I fancy him here on last time out winner, General Lee. It was the fact he was eased down and beat an odds on Gosden horse into second that impressed me most.

General Lee 20/1 0.5pts each way 4 places

The Little Yank 20/1 0.5pts each way 5 places

Decor Irlandais 14/1 0.5pts each way 7 places

Botani 20/1 0.5pts each way 7 places

Roaring Bull 33/1 0.5pts each way 6 places
