Saturday 10/04 Grand National Day!

13:45 - Southfield Harvest 10/1 each way 7 places

He was well fancied by myself for Cheltenham with Nicholls saying in a tour before hand that he was his best handicapped horse. He missed the meeting there and ends up here instead, I was waiting for him to turn out and expect him to go close tomorrow!

14:25 - Dreal Deal 7/1 1pt each way

A good looking race here, the obvious two at the top of the market not without a chance. I will be siding with Dreal Deal who again I fancied at Cheltenham in either the Supreme or Ballymore. The stable had some issues and he wasn’t ready in time for that but I have a feeling this two miles four at the flat track will really suit him.

Again it looks to be a formality with Shishkin here, so instead of taking him on I’ll be going for the forecast with Funambule Sivola who arrives here in good form.

15:35 - Diol Ker 12/1 each way 4 places

Another who I liked for the stayers at Cheltenham. His first start was perhaps one of the best bumpers in terms of quality. He came fifth that day behind Assemble who has been contesting grade one chases this year; Jason The Militant who most recently won a grade three and also finished just half a length behind Abacadabras in a grade one; and in first that day was Envoi Allen. The next twice he ran in a couple of maiden hurdles placing on both occasions before finally getting her head in front against none other than Monkfish, winning by seven lengths! After being off for nearly a year he returned for a chasing campaign, falling first time out then finishing third to Assemble and then a fourth to Monkfish. Perhaps not suited to chasing, he was sent back over hurdles winning once over two and a half and then contesting the grade two Galmoy Hurdle over three miles. He was unlucky that day having come strongly to win the race he ended up being hampered, losing momentum and finishing a head second to Sam's Profile. On that form and a beating of Monkfish on his final hurdles start last year is enough to convince me to have a small go each way.

16:15 - Snow Leopardess 12/1 each way , Fagan 14/1 each way

Snow Leopardess ran a cracker over the 3 miles 6 in the National Hunt Chase just fading into fourth behind three very top class horses. This is more her trip and I can see her going well as long as that hasn’t left too much of a mark. She’s been super consistent this year and really feel she has a great chance here. Fagan was an outsider I originally fancied as a long shot for the National, I think trainers will be hoping to get some compensation for missing out on the race. He won over the 3 miles last time out and Alex Hales is a trainer who I really like, at 14/1 he rates a good place chance here.

17:15 -

Three darts for me here. Firstly I like Kimberlite Candy who has good course form finishing second in the last two Bechers chases, most recently in December. He won over three miles five in January last year and will no doubt see out the extra here. At 16/1 he will be my first pick. The next I like is Anibale Fly who is a huge price considering the previous two nationals saw him finish 5th and 4th respectively. He gets the trip, likes the fences and has less questions to answer than the rest of these. The run last time was the first in almost a year and can forgive him fitness then. At 28/1 he will be my second play. Finally at a bigger price I like Alpha Des Obeaux who seems to stay all day, most recently a good fourth to Tiger Roll in the cross country at Cheltenham. That was his best run in a while and hinted at a return to form, he previously placed with a third in the Becher so doesn’t mind the course. At 80/1 he’s my final pick here.

18:20 - Balco Coastal 15/8 win Parramount 33/1 each way 4 places

Balco Coastal was a good second to Gentlemansgame in his PTP which has been well franked since, he then won on bumper debut and really could be anything here. He’s short enough, but I really feel he is going to be a big horse for the coming seasons. Parramount will be my more speculative shot at 33/1, his debut was a second to Tamar Bridge who has run a good third in a 14 runner race and won again since. His second bumper was another second won by Mr Glass who has won again since too. He finally got off the mark last month winning in good style from a Skelton runner in second. I think JJ Codd being booked shows intent as he has a phenomenal record in these events and think with the 4 places we can hope for a place here.
