Selections 31/03

A few selections to round off a good first few weeks of the blog. Currently at +50pts, hopefully we can end the month on a high!

Mahale contested the grade 3 Albany stakes at Royal Ascot last year, where he wasn’t disgraced. He also ran in the Newbury super sprint last year where he wasn’t so good. A few second place finishes this year over 5 and 6 furlongs. Missed the start last time so willing to forgive that sixth and think he has a good chance here. He is now down to a class 6 having disputed Graded races last year, I think the extra two furlongs will suit as he was often outpaced over 5 furlongs. 11/1 0.5pts each way

Misscarlett is due a win having been running ok and seeing her mark slip from a high of 94 all the way down to 74 tomorrow. She’s not been running too badly and I think the booking of Brian Hughes is a plus, with him scrapping it out desperate for wins in the jockey championship. With 4 places available I think the price is fair and hopefully should at least be there abouts. 8/1 0.5pts each way 4 places

The Bees Knees is super consistent always being there abouts towards the end, he’s been fourth the last twice having contested larger field races. He should find this a little easier and is off an unchanged mark, I think Fergal O’Brien is a great trainer and should have him primed. 7/4 is a good price and will have a 1pt win bet on him.

Finally we have Butterfield for Brian Forsey, he won a pair of races in January last year and not quite been in the same form this year in his three runs. He has, however, been improving with each and is down in class to an easier race and think 16/1 could show some good place value.

13:10 Ludlow - The Bees Knees 7/4 1pt win

16:10 Hexham - Misscarlett 8/1 0.5pts each way

16:40 Kempton - Butterfield 16/1 0.5pts each way

17:45 Kempton - Mahale 11/1 0.5pts each way
